OUR SCHOOL

Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to St Joseph's School Boulder

It is a joy and a privilege to lead this wonderful school community, and I warmly welcome you to be part of it. Since joining St Joseph’s in 2022, I’ve witnessed such positive change — in our culture, in the way we teach and learn, and in the growth of our students. Our focus is always on doing what’s best for each child, supporting them to thrive in every way.

We often refer to the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and at St Joseph’s, that’s something we live by. Our whole-school approach brings together staff, families, and students, working in partnership to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for learning and growth.

St Joseph’s is a co-educational Catholic primary school catering for children from 3-Year-Old Kindergarten through to Year 6. Established in 1898 and steeped in the tradition of the Sisters of St Joseph, our school shares a close and valued relationship with the All Hallows Church, located right next door. This strong connection to our Catholic identity underpins all that we do!

A key part of our identity is our commitment to Walking in Our Charism — an initiative that brings our school’s history and values to life. Inspired by Saint Mary MacKillop’s call to “Never see a need without doing something about it,” this project connects students, staff, and families to our Josephite heritage through meaningful, community-based actions. From our Grotto and school mosaic to our 125-year history walk and original school song, this initiative ensures our faith and values are not only taught but lived and celebrated in visible, authentic ways.

We believe every child is a unique gift from God. At St Joseph’s, we’re committed to recognising and nurturing the individual strengths of each student. Through engaging, inquiry-based learning, modern technology, and a relevant, inclusive curriculum, we aim to spark curiosity and inspire every learner to reach their full potential.

We also know that parents are a child’s first and most important educators. When families choose to be part of the St Joseph’s community, they invite us to walk alongside them in their child’s learning journey. This is a privilege we honour, and we are committed to working closely with families every step of the way.

Our values of “ Faith, Kindness, and Respect “guide everything we do. These aren’t just words on a wall – they’re lived out daily in the way we speak, act, learn, and support one another. We know that relationships are key to student wellbeing and success, and we place a strong emphasis on communication, connection, and care.

As Principal of St Joseph’s, I feel incredibly grateful to lead such a dedicated team and vibrant community. Together, we will continue to grow a school culture that celebrates diversity, encourages excellence, and honours the rich history and charism of our school.

Warm regards,

Tanya Stafford
